In this course, I was challenged to design a competition robot from start to finish, using only materials/equipment provided in a kit from the start of the course and additional things found in the lab. All on my own.
The challenge involved manipulating rocks, ascending ramps and pulling levers to score points. I decided on a multi-stage rack and pinion elevator mechanism to give the bot the height necessary to deposit the rocks and gain points. I designed and machined/fabricated all components not provided by the lab, and took the robot through multiple iterations to reach its final form.
